Wow what a season so far………..Well we continue to bring in some amazing fruit….We started the week with Grenache Blanc and Marsanne from Boushey Vyd which we are co-fermenting together and then will blend it with the Ciel du Cheval Roussanne down the road. We have also crushed two seperate vyd syrahs………..one from Elephant Mtn vyd and the other from Clifton Hill vyd……more on all this later per its time to clean up and call it a day………….Cheers
Harvest 2008 has finally begun……It started with 1.5 tons of beautiful Roussanne from Ciel du Cheval vyd on Red Mtn. The grapes were whole cluster pressed and fermentation has begun in a temperature controlled tank. The juice/wine wil be transfered to used french oak after most of primary fermentation has completed and aged “sur lie” for a period of time before bottling early new year.
The first red of the season is 1.44 tons of gorgeous 2008 Cinsaut from the Yakima Valley. The berries are bursting with flavor and after 48hrs cold soak the must is showing an awesome garnet color with rich flavors of red currants and raspberries. Trying a new yeast this season which should highlight these flavors as well flush out more red fruits, etc…………This is a great time of year to visit the valley,so just give me a call prior to coming to make sure I am here.
Our 2006 Syrah made from Red Mountain grapes is in the bottle and ready for your table.
Opaque, crimson appearance. Plush aromatics highlighted by notes of dark chocolate, mocha, vanillin, mixed berries, and ripe plum. Loads of black fruit on the palate are infused with intriguing smoky-spicy flavors that meld into a silky mouth feel and long, lasting lush finish. This rich Syrah partners well with variably prepared meats, and any hearty cuisine you prepare.
It has been a very busy couple of weeks. A posting of where you can find our wines in Seattle will be coming as soon as Mark returns from his latest adventure to the Emerald City. Look for him tomorrow in Ballard and our new video showing the 2006 Syrah Magnums being bottled.
